Bags of Fun

I made this card for my sister's birthday and was inspired when I saw the little dog embellishment in the craft shop I knew exactly what I was going to do with it!! (So to speak .....)
The card itself is made using a template and bazzil cardstock and a lovely oriental paper, though I don't know who it's by. I finished off with brads and created the stitching effect with my pokey tool and a fine tipped pen.
Right, that's enough updating for know, it's late and I need to check out the inside of my eyelids!! I will try and post some more in a day or to when I get back from a couple of days away. I didn't realise how many things I have made and not posted so, brace yourself!!!! :-)

New Babies!!

Well, this has really been a year for new babies! My daughter's best friend gave birth to a beautiful little girl first of all (I made her the baby shower card previously) and one of the lads at work and his wife had the early but safe arrival of their little boy. I loved the card with the Happy Hopper image so much, I couldn't resist making it again. I don't normally make the same card twice but made an exception for this one! The backing papers are by DCWV and I watercoloured the image and added glossy accents to his little bottle to finish off.
The other little girl card was made using Woodware clear stamps and I attached the dangly bear with a few jump rings.

A Challenge

Thought I had better catch up with my blogging and enter a few of the cards I have been making (honest) but not been posting (on my blog that is, not by Royal Mail ....)

This card was made as a challenge and was made using a stamp by Magenta. I stamped the image several times and mounted onto card to create a 3D image. The front of the card was black card with a grey core, embossed using the cuttlebug and I then added gems and a bit of glitter for added sparkle.

The photos really doesn't do it justice but I hope you like it :-)

Happy Hopper

This is not quite a House Mouse as I know I seem to have steered towards them quite a bit lately, but I do love this image. The greeting is by Penny Black and the background papers by DCWV and I used my trusty border punch and - wait for it - MORE ribbon. I need therapy!!The embossing at the bottom of the card is one of the new border folders from Cuttlebug.

Happy 40th

My sister asked me to make a card for her friend's 40th birthday but wanted something to do with keep fit as she was training for a marathon. I thought this little House Mouse image was perfect and is just so cute. The background papers are by DCWV and so are the letters for the name. The numbers were cut using my Cuttlebug.

Wedding Scrap Book

I recently went along to the wedding of our estimator at work, Paul and his new wife, Nina. Their wedding card is the House Mouse card on my blog somewhere. They decided not to have a photographer and I was worried that they might not get around to putting an album together. While they were away on their honeymoon, I put together a scrapbook of the day as a surprise for them when they came back. They were thrilled to bits and sent me a lovely thank you card and, for the first time, I actually took photos of the book (I usually give them away and forget to keep a record) so thought I would add it to my blog to see what you think.

I'm Back!!

Hi everyone

I apologise for my absence over the last few weeks but the medication the doctor has put me on for epilepsy has been wiping me out and I haven't been able to keep my eyes open/11 (Nothing new there then .....) I have still been crafting but not really trurning the computer on. Sadly, I left my job on Friday due to my lack of transport and now that I have finally stopped bawling my eyes out - I loved the job and everyone I worked with - I am now stuck at home so will try and catch up with everyone. Prepare yourselves for a barrage ........

This card was made for my sister and her husband for their anniversary and I used the House Mouse image again together with my Cuttlebug and just a tiny bit of ribbon .....

House Mouse Monday Challenge - Tags

One our our Estimators at work, Paul got married to his Fiancee Nina on Saturday and we had a lovely day. The sun shone and everything was perfect.

I had obviously already made this card and it fits perfectly for this week's House Mouse Challenge. The rose archway stamp is by Penny Black and the mice are, of course, by House Mouse Designs which were decoupaged to add a bit of depth. I just love them!! Everything was watercoloured with pencils but the bride's dress was watercoloured with a Sakura Stardust clear pen to add a touch of glamour. The noses were coloured with a Sakura black glaze pen to give them a healthy shine. I finally added a tag by K & Co with the sentiment again from Penny Black which was embossed with holographic powder. The heart clip and - gasp - the ribbon finished it off. Right off for a lie down .......

A little bit of decoupage .......

My dad asked me to make a card for his sister and, as she is a big lover of flowers, I thought this would be ideal. I don't know who the decoupage is by but my wonderful friend Lyn gave it to me. It took me flippin' hours to cut it out and layer it with Pinflair glue, but I think the final result was worth it!! The card was an embossed frame card and I just added a piece of gold mirri card to the middle so that the decoupage would stand out. I chalked the embossed bits and added the sentiment by Craftwork Cards.

She phoned my dad to say how much she loved the card so the extra effort was definitely worth it. (Don't know whether I'd do it again in a hurry tho' ......)

Wallet Card

After the last card, I just had to use another House Mouse image for this wallet card I have made for Pauline who I have met recently through the DoCrafts website, though it was somewhat late (sorry Pauline).

I have used a Penny Black sentiment and the good old border punch, and the Stardust pen and glossy accents for the ice cubes. The backing papers are by DCWV and the die cut flower is by Cratwork Cards. If only we had a summer to enjoy like these little meeces (I know what I'm trying to say, but not how to spell it!!)

Baby Shower

My daughter's best friend, Debbie and her partner, are due to have their first baby in a couple of weeks and we were invited to a baby shower last weekend. I thought this little House Mouse stamp was perfect. I coloured it using watercolour pencils but for the water used a blue sSakura stardust pen to watercolour with and finished by adding glossy accents. I used Laura Ashley backing papers and a border punch to get the lace effect and lettering using my trusty Cuttlebug. I finally added the always necessary flower and brad (need to stock up soon .....) and, wait for it, ribbon - phew!! We know she is having a little girl so I was justified in all of the pink :-)

A woman's work is never done .....

I made this card for the lovely lady who cleans our office. The decoupage is by Jolly Nation with the sentiment by Penny Black. As Kate is so young and vibrant, she had to have flowers, glitter and spangly earrings as embellishments!!

Sorry I haven't been around .....

but I've had a rotten couple of weeks and haven't really wanted to do anything as a result.

I was taken ill around two weeks ago and have now been diagnosed as having epilepsy. This has meant I have had to surrender my driving licence and, because of the distance I work from home, have also had to hand my notice in at work and am due to finish at the end of October and leave a job and colleagues that I have loved working with for the last two years :-(

I must admit, it came as quite a shock but, now I have come to terms with the fact (and the realisation that I can craft as I am going to be without a job for a short while - woohoo!!) I am finally getting back on track. Trouble is, I can't drive myself to the craft shops anymore (maybe a good thing as I'm not going to be earning anything either - whoops)

So I would like to apologise to all my blogging friends, who I feel I have neglected, but I am back (I hope that's a good thing??!! ......) I will catch up with everyone and add some of the cards I have made over the last few days.

Cute Card Thursday Challenge and My First Magnolia!!

Well, it's all downhill from her as I have finally succumbed and bought some Magnolia Stamps ...... I have been itching to use them and this is my very first and, I expect, one of many. The theme on the Cute Card Thursday Challenge for this week is Pretty in Pink and I don't find it hard to use pink at any time (even my little dogs go out in matching pink collars and leads - must to my dad's embarrassment when he walks them!!) Anyway, back to the matter in hand - I watercoloured Tilda with pencils and used a Sakura stardust pen for her wings. The frame is by Craftwork cards and I coloured the flowers in Twinkling H2O's and added a bit of glitter (can't beat a bit of glitter) and finally coloured the frame in pink with glitter chalks to finish my shimmer theme. The wonderful Julie sent me a roll of ribbon yesterday (thanks again Julie - still can't cut that one) but I felt I was able to part with a bit from my stash to celebrate. Ooh, nearly forgot, the sentiment was from Craftwork Cards too!!

Penny Black Saturday Challenge - 13

For my next project, the challenge this week was "One for the Girls" and this image just had to be the one. I coloured in Sakura Stardust pens and added glitter. I then decoupaged it and added glitter (girls always need a bit of bling! The background papers are by DCWV and K & Co and the flourish is from a clear stamp set from Kars (cheap and cheeful but lovely) which, along with the Prisma flowers wouldn't let me leave the craft shop yesterday and begged to come with with me - honest!! I added a couple of pearly brads and the seentiment, which is by Penny Black was embossed in brown. Can you see what I mean about brown embossing with this paper? Looks better than the pink on the earlier mixed up baby card don't you think??!!

House Mouse Challenge No 4

Well, after being so disorganised and un-crafty for the last couple of weeks, I thought I might have a challenging weekend and so have made cards to enter in various challenges.
My first is for the House Mouse Challenge. I just love these House Mouse Stamps so was thrilled that a challenge blog started a couple of weeks ago but, what with one thing and another, this is the first opportunity that I've had to enter. The image was watercoloured and edged with glimmer chalk with the background papers all by K & Co and the sentiment is from Penny Black. Isn't he just gorgeous!!??

New Baby

This lovely Little Cotton Rabit image was kindly sent to me by me wonderful mate Sarn and is part of another collection "I need". I was asked to make the card by by friend but discovered, when she came to collect it, I'd had a blonde day and the baby's name was actually Emily!! I blame the weather ..... Actually, it worked out quite well because I wasn't 100% happy with the card but when I changed the name, I embossed it in brown which looked much better. I didn't get chance to photograph the new version as the card had to go in the post!!

Phew, think that's my blogging finally up to date - now I can get back on track :-)

Another Wedding Card

My brother asked me to make a card for Denise and Jon and, at 4.00am on the morning of the wedding, this was my offering. I still haven't found the toppers I wanted to use so they must be in a really safe place!!

Denise's Wedding

I feel I should apologise for my blogging absence for the last couple of weeks. I have been on holiday from work so have been gardening like a mad woman (when the weather allowed) plus, my sister got married on Sunday 24th August and I was busy putting together a scrapbook for her fiance to present to her on the day, full of momentoes of the time since they met. Yes, she cried her eyes out but so did everyone else and I don't think we actually have any phots of her with the book that aren't blurred!!

The top card here is the card I made to put the gift card my daugbhters and I gave to them and the other card is my card to them both. The stamped image is by Aspects of Design and was coloured usine Twinkling H2O's and the sentiment is by Penny Black.
